The RIEDEL Wine Glass Experience with Maxi Riedel

The RIEDEL Wine Glass Experience with Maxi Riedel

The RIEDEL wine glass experience, with the king Maxi Riedel!

There are so many wine events and educational events these days it’s hard to attend them all, so much so that I probably say no to more than I say yes to. This however was an absolute must attend

Being not only a huge fan of Riedel and Maxi himself, I’m also someone who appreciates and acknowledges how important passion and commitment are. This is something that comes across so evidently with Maxi, as I always say you cannot teach passion. It is so deeply embedded in who he is, it’s hard to not hang off every word.

The purpose of this event was to highlight the grape specific glassware and how important it is to wine. As many of you know I advocate the fact that a glass can make or break a wine, you may not agree but I certainly do! We had 4 glasses from the Veloce range and 4 wines to boot, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Shiraz and these were matched with a grape specific glass each. From the first moment we smelt the Savvy B right up until the last sip of Shiraz the entire room was hooked and engaged with Maxi. What a show, what passion and what an eye opening experience this was. Seeing a wine become almost unidentifiable in a glass not designed for it is crazy, almost surreal but so real and true! Glassware matters and don’t get me started on decanting, that’s a whole extra session needed!

How often do we try a wine from 3-4 different glasses to see just how important it is, never right!? This event only cemented in my mind that I need to have a lot more cupboard space for glasses. All wine deserves the chance to shine, the people involved in making these wines pour their heart and soul into what goes into the glass.

A huge thankyou to Mark from Riedel for the invite and Maxi for taking time to say hey and share a glass of my fave red from the mighty Yarra Valley, Mount Mary’s Quintet! Pretty good pic too!

For those interested, we used the new Veloce Range (The Chardonnay glass is my personal fave to use) and these will be available to purchase from me direct very soon as I look to expand my website and offerings for all wine lovers!
