TASTING NOTES
Harvested solely from Block 3 on the Napoleone Vineyard, planted in 1988 with SA125 clone. The fruit undergoes a temperature-controlled whole berry ferment, that is gently pumped over twice daily. Post ferment, the wine is pressed to a combination of new and seasoned oak. The new oak is all from the Taransaud and Nadalie Cooperages, 25% new, remaining is 2nd and 3rd use barriques.
Our Block 3 Cabernet, which can be stored for up to 10 years, recently received a score of 96 points and Top Gold in its Class at the National Wine
Show and was named the Best Cabernet in Show at the 2022 Yarra Valley Wine Show.
2021 was a benchmark vintage for the Yarra Valley, producing exceptional wines across all varieties, with Cabernet as an absolute standout. A wetwinter and cool start to the growing season ensured a healthy canopy and great fruit set. After a wet January, February was cool and dry, allowing for slow ripening. This extra time on the vine allows the fruit to retain vibrant acid and develop complex flavour and supple tannin.
