Coombe Estate Pinot Gris 2022

THE WINE
Lifted, aromatic note with nashi pear and white blossom leaping out of the glass. The palate sees plush red apple and white peach, brought together with lemon citrus acidity and edgy minerality. Freshness is the driver of this wine, with a marriage of texture and crisp acidity providing intensity and length.

THE VINTAGE
The vineyard team saw sunrise during the harvest of the Pinot Gris. Loaded directly to the press and juice drained away to tank quickly ensured minimal colour pickup. The juice was coarse racked to older seasoned oak and fermented by indigenous yeast. Some gentle lees stirring during maturation has naturally enhanced mid palate sweetness.

VITICULTURE + WINEMAKING
The rainfall through the 2021 winter and spring set-up ideal soil moisture levels for vintage 2022. After a cool and wet early spring, conditions warmed and dried as summer progressed. January was sunny and occasionally hot. Both February and March were very favourable and ultimately a near perfect season culminated in ripe grapes ideally suited for premium Yarra Valley wines.
