RIEDEL Performance is the first wine glass series to feature bowls with a light optic impact, enhancing the wine's aromatics. Co-designed by Georg and Maximilian Riedel, this technologically advanced collection is crafted for grape varietal-specific precision.
The Champagne Wine Glass is designed to fully develop and display champagne’s intricate characteristics. Unlike a traditional flute, the egg-shaped bowl allows a wide range of aromatics to unfold, intensifying complex layers. The larger rim diameter enhances the aromatic experience, releasing the nuances in a way not possible with a narrow flute. Additionally, the glass includes a ‘sparkling point’ to aid the formation of fine, delicate bubbles.
As part of the Performance series, this shape was refined in 2018 to maximise the aromatic expression of sparkling wines. The optic impact not only adds a striking design element but also amplifies the wine’s bouquet for a more immersive tasting experience.
