Australian chardonnay has changed. The big oak and tropical fruit of the 90s is gone, replaced by tight, mineral wines from Yarra Valley, Margaret River, Tumbarumba and Adelaide Hills that drink like premier cru on a quarter of the budget. These are the bottles making top sommelier lists today.
