The right glass changes everything.
Riedel has been shaping wine for over 265 years. From the Sommeliers series that pioneered varietal-specific glassware, to the mouth-blown Superleggero, every piece is engineered to bring out the best in what's in your bottle.
As part of our official partnership, Wine Animal readers get 20% off the Riedel Australia range.

Riedel glassware sits on the Wine Animal tasting bench every week. It's what I reach for when I want to taste a wine as the maker intended it. That's the standard for any Wine Animal partnership.
265 years of glassmaking
Founded in 1756 and family-owned across eleven generations. The Sommeliers series (1973) introduced the world to varietal-specific glassware and changed how wine is tasted forever.
Shape drives perception
The bowl steers aroma delivery. The rim decides where wine lands on your palate — how much acidity, tannin, fruit and finish you perceive. Pour the same wine into two Riedel shapes side-by-side and it'll taste like two different wines.
Made for the wine
Riedel's ranges span mouth-blown crystal (Superleggero, Dom Pérignon), machine-made lead-free crystal (Veritas, Vinum, Winewings, Veloce), and everyday reliable (Performance). A glass for every wine.
Engineered with winemakers
Every Riedel shape is developed alongside the world's leading winemakers. From the Barolo bowl designed with Angelo Gaja to Dom Pérignon's dedicated champagne glass — it's collaboration, not marketing.
Eight collections. Every varietal covered.

Superleggero
The pinnacle. Feather-light mouth-blown crystal, extended stems, engineered bowls. If you love a single varietal deeply, this is the glass to own it in.

Dom Pérignon
Designed with the Dom Pérignon chef de cave. A dedicated champagne glass that unlocks the vintage cuvée aromatics no flute can. Serious bubbles deserve serious glass.

Winewings
Flat-based bowl that flares acid and aroma outward. Modern silhouette, machine-made crystal, dishwasher safe. Divides purists — I love them.

Vinum
The range that made varietal glassware affordable. Introduced 1986. Still the best-selling series worldwide. Not delicate — great for dinner parties.

A starter guide. This is what I reach for at the tasting bench.
The glass makes the wine.
A side-by-side tasting of the same wine in three different Riedel shapes.

Is this a paid partnership?
Yes. Wine Animal is an approved Riedel Affiliate Partner. The code WINEANIMAL is issued by Riedel Australia (RSN Australia Pty Ltd) and gives you 20% off. Wine Animal earns a small commission on orders placed with the code. The recommendation came first — we've been using Riedel on the tasting bench for years.
Does the code work on the whole Riedel range?
The code is valid across the Australian Riedel shop at riedel.com/en-au. Some limited or clearance lines may be excluded — the site will show the discount at checkout.
How long is the code valid?
The partnership runs until 31 December 2026 in the first term, with renewal expected. The code will be in force for the full period; we'll update this page if that changes.
Where does Riedel ship?
The Australian Riedel site ships throughout Australia and New Zealand. For orders outside AU/NZ, use riedel.com and select your region — the WINEANIMAL code is region-specific to AU/NZ.
Which glass should I buy first?
If you drink mostly reds, start with a Veritas Cabernet and a Veritas Old World Pinot Noir — two glasses will cover 80% of what you drink. If you drink whites and bubbles, add a Veritas Champagne and a Riesling. Building up from Veritas is the smartest path unless you want the mouth-blown Superleggero right out of the gate.
Are Riedel glasses dishwasher safe?
Veritas, Winewings, Vinum, Performance, Veloce and the Dom Pérignon glass are dishwasher-safe. Superleggero is mouth-blown and should be hand-washed.
