El Olmar was the first single-vineyard release by Terry Kandylis from his 'blessed destiny' project rejuvenating centennial field-blend vines on 7ha around the village of Canalejas de Peñafiel. A mixed plot of Tempranillo, Garnacha and white varieties, co- harvested, co-fermented in concrete and aged for two years in a used French oak barrel. Lovely florality, with lavender, roses and violet, crunchy red and blue fruit, with a seductive veil of herbal smokiness and filigree tannins. A superb, elegant wine. Drink 2024-2035 Alcohol 13.2%. 96 points
This exceptional wine comes from four distinct plots on a single east-facing slope, all planted between 1920 and 1930. The vineyard features Tempranillo, Valenciano, and Albillo, which ripen simultaneously, alongside two larger plots predominantly planted with Garnacha, known for its later ripening. Spanning just 0.80 hectares.
A bright, slightly inky ruby red with inviting aromas of earth, blue fruits, and hints of cardamom and mint. The palate shows incredible tension, with fresh currants and berries balanced by subtle earthiness. At 13.2% ABV, El Olmar is an elegant blend of grace, energy, and freshness, perfect for Burgundy lovers seeking something new.
